My daughter’s fifth birthday is coming up very soon. I try to not think about it too much, because it sends me into a tailspin, reminiscing on her as a baby, then toddler, and now preschooler, and makes me realize just how fast time flies. In an effort to not focus on my baby not being a baby anymore, I’ve dived into planning her fifth birthday, and in my research and obsessive Google searches for some of the best places in Reno or Sparks to hold a party, have come to realize that there are some total gems in this place we call home. I wanted to give you a list of some of the party places I’ve found that are a little more off-the-beaten-path than others.
Sippee’s – 775.329.2110
The cutest little shop smack dab in Midtown, Sippee’s is a great place to find unique gifts and clothes for kids, but it also boasts a Tea Room perfect for little girl parties. They offer three packages to choose from, which all vary in guest size and add-ons. The room is fairly small – fitting up to seven little people total – but comes with hats, boas, and all the other tea party necessities. In addition to the party room, Sippee’s offers both the birthday girl and all of her guests a 10% discount on in-store purchases the day of the party.
Mix Cupcake – 775.329.1748
What girl or boy wouldn’t love a make your own cupcake party?! Mix Cupcake Co. offers Sprinkle Shindigs for parties up to 16. For $8 per guest, the group is giving a cupcake, frosting and sprinkles to create their very own cupcake masterpiece. This isn’t just for kids, either. Moms, what about a Girls’ Night Out cupcake making party, complete with wine? Sign me up!
Muzic Fuze – 775.432.2422
Since my daughter wants to be a dancer and singer when she grows up, I am heavily leaning toward Muzic Fuze’s birthday party package. We’re still at that age where both girls and boys are invited to birthday parties, and this would be super popular with the 5-year old age group. Guests have the opportunity to play a bunch of instruments, sing songs, and perform as if they are in a real band. The Muzic Fuze staff offers hands-on help, and the package includes pizza and ice cream. The cost is $299 for two hours and up to 12 guests.
Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center – 775.784.4812
What kid wouldn’t love a party that incorporates looking at the solar system? Birthday parties at the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center sound like so much fun! For only $100 for up to 10 children, guests will have access to either one full-dome Planetarium star show or a science-themed craft activity. In addition, the Center provides invitations, cups, plates, napkins and party decorations. The Center staff can also customize party bags filled with space age type goodies like astronaut ice cream or galactic plasma.
Reno-Tahoe Equestrian Centre – 775.720.3548
The minimum age for a party at the Reno-Tahoe Equestrian Centre is five years and older, and this option is already on our list for next year. The Equestrian Centre offers parties on Saturday or Sunday, and the cost is $275 for up to 12 children. During the party, guests will meet the horses and learn their characteristics and traits. Two horses are provided for the party and each guest gets a ride. After the lesson and ride, guests are then invited to a party room for refreshments, which are not provided.
Here are some additional resources and places to check out in our area.

Clay Canvas – 775.828.4118

There are many places that I didn’t even knew offered birthday parties, and upped my indecisiveness to the nth degree, but in the end, I’m happy with the location we chose. Good luck with your party planning!
